I’m Malaika (she/her), an award-nominated producer and researcher who’s passionate about creating media that bridges the intersection of identity, politics, and our shared histories. My work has appeared on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, OWN, Showtime, PBS, and at festivals around the world. In addition to producing documentary films, I’ve produced nonfiction films and interactive media for numerous museums and non-profits around the U.S. My heart is happiest telling stories that help us reveal parts of ourselves that we might’ve left behind.

When I’m not buried in the archives or prepping for production, I’m figuring out new ways to help talented storytellers get their projects out to the masses. Beyond that, catch me singing to my plants, attempting to shape some clay, or daydreaming about desserts.
